The UK Nuclear Academics Group brings together and is open to all University-based staff working in research and teaching in disciplines supporting:
- Nuclear fission
- Nuclear fusion
- Medical isotope production and use
It also links to the Nuclear Physics community.
Membership of the group is open and inclusive, spanning engineering, science, and policy.
The Group meets once per year for a 2-day meeting to review key areas of development in national strategy, facilities, the funding landscape, and national and international consortia. The meeting agenda is developed by a steering group drawn from the academic community. Stakeholders from the funding councils, government agencies, and industrial partners are invited to attend to observe and contribute.
The Group operates a mailing list for dissemination of information. Anyone can ask for a message to be sent via the list owner.
The Group has a Chair who is a focal point for the group and leads on the development of the annual meeting agenda. They are supported by a Deputy Chair.
The Group is self-funded, and the Annual Meeting operates on a break-even basis.
